Meet Chase our 2017 Summer Bash Ambassador

Chase, born July 17, 2008 is the second sone of four. He was born with a genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis (NF1). This disorder causes tumors to grow in various parts of his body, specifically his brain. Through a series of events beginning in September 2015 tumors (gliomas) were discovered in Chase's optic nerve pathways and growth was detectedin fliomas already present in his brain. With the guidance of the amazing doctors at Children's Hospital and Medical Center, Chase started on chemotherapy on October 20th through a port that was surgically place on October 7th. He underwent weekly treatments for just over a year. MRI's recently show that the tumor growth has stopped and that Chase no longer needs chemotherapy. We continue to monitor the tumors with very regular MRI's and visits to his neuro-opthamologist. Vision in Chase's eyesight has decreased dramatically through this process, but no Chase's positive and energetic spirit. He is quick with a smile, a joke, or a hug. His stamina and bubly nature have sustained even his parents. His favorite activities include hi-hp, playing outside, and making new friends. The tumors in Chase's brain and eyes are somthing he will need to monitor the rest of his life but we are confident that Chase's determination, strenght and kindness will afford him much success and happiness.
